Congratulations to Bart van der Holst

Posted: January 15, 2010

Dr. Bart Van Der Holst has been awarded the 2009-2010 College of Engineering Kenneth M. Reese Outstanding Research Scientist Award. Bart is one of the brightest scientists of his generation, with imagination, flare and enormous technical ability that is most impressive. Since joining AOSS in 2007, he has become one of the main code developers for CSEM and CRASH. In this short time, Bart has implemented the break-out model of CMEs for CSEM and developed the “multigroup diffusion” radiation code for CRASH.

Gabor Toth best summarizes the enthusiastic support for Bart’s nomination:

“When I asked my colleagues to write support letters for Bart’s nomination, I was sure that they would agree. What I did not expect, though, was that I would not have to write a reminder. All the letters arrived on time! All the support letters are specific, personal, and extremely positive. Bart has accomplished much more in two short years than one could possibly expect. We have the highest expectations for his continued successful work in our department.”

Please join us in congratulating Bart on his well deserved award.
