Sushil Atreya Appointed to NRC/NAS Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences

Congratulations to Sushil Atreya on his appointment to the highly prestigious Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences (CAPS) of the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences. CAPS was created from the merger of NRC's Committee on Planetary and Lunar Exploration (COMPLEX) and the Committee on the Origins and Evolution of Life (COEL).

The prime functions of CAPS will be to monitor the implementation of the recommendations contained in the Vision and Voyages planetary science decadal survey and in the reports drafted under the aegis of COEL and COMPLEX, and to act as the organizing committee for future studies in the areas of astrobiology and planetary science.

Prof. Atreya's appointment maintains AOSS's long chain of service on this highest level Planetary Science Advisory Panel including current faculty members Andy Nagy, Mike Combi, and Steve Bougher.
