Dr. Frank Marsik Visits Elementary School

Dr. Frank Marsik visited Bates elementary school in Dexter to discuss weather with children. AOSS students Alex Bryan, Rachael Kroodsma and Zac Ebenstein joined him.

Marsik began the day with a story about a dog that used his nose to observe weather. Then he showed the children a more sophisticated forecasting tool: a weather balloon. He explained that the balloon helps people understand weather conditions high above ground.

The class went outside to blow bubbles. This helped them visualize the motions of wind. Inside, Bryan and Ebenstein created a cloud in a bottle to explain how clouds form. This was greeted with many oohs and aahs, as seen on video.
