AOSS Alumnus Dr. Jeff Masters predicts weather disasters

In 2011 Dr. Jeff Masters, an alumnus and co-founder of Weather Underground, predicted nine weather disasters in the U.S. that would cause $100 billion in damage in the next 30 years.

His list included a Midwest drought and a hurricane in New York City. About a year after his predictions, the Midwest faced one of the worst droughts on record and Hurricane Sandy damaged the Northeast.

He recently updated his list to include potential disasters all over the world: hurricanes, a typhoon, floods and more. He has also predicted that another hurricane will hit New York City within 30 years.

Yahoo! News shared his predictions on their Just Explain It series. To watch the clip, click here.
