Professor Penner is part of study backed by CIA

Professor Joyce Penner is a member of a National Academy of Sciences committee that is studying ways to cool the global climate. The committee’s research is being funded by NASA, NOAA and the U.S. intelligence community (CIA), according to an article from NBC.

The fact that the U.S. intelligence community and top science agencies are funding research on climate change indicates that the government takes the potential impacts of global warming seriously.

Dr. Penner was also a member of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Her research focuses on improving climate models through the addition of interactive chemistry and the description of aerosols and their direct and indirect effects on the radiation balance in climate models.
