The AOSS National Advisory Board

AOSS has recently formed a National Advisory Board (NAB) of external stakeholders, including alumni, collaborators, private and public institution leaders and interested members of the public.

The purpose of the board is to gain input from external stakeholders concerning our educational and research goals and how we plan to accomplish them.

The board will meet each fall in the Space Research Building to hear briefings on major developments, opportunities and challenges. The board will share their perspectives and provide recommendations for consideration.

The members are:

  • Vassilis Angelopoulos, Professor, Institute of Geophysics& Planetary Physics, UCLA

  • Steve Battel, Owner, Battel Engineering

  • Tom Cravens, Professor, Physics & Astronomy, University of Kansas

  • Dustin Doud, Manager, Produces & Programs, SpaceX (alum)
  • 
Paul Hays, Co-Founder, Michigan Aeronautics Corporation
  • 
Andrew Humphrey, Meteorologist & Reporter, WDIV-TV (alum)
  • 
Jeff Masters, Co-founder, Weather Underground (alum)

Ron Polidan, Chief Architect, Civil Systems, Northrop Grumman

  • Tim Wallington, Environmental Research Scientist, Ford Motor Co. (adjunct prof.)

The AOSS Chair, Jim Slavin, chose the members in consultation with the Dean and the College’s development team, from a list of candidates nominated by AOSS faculty and alumni.
