Professor Bougher’s new MAVEN video

A new video produced by MConneX features Professor Stephen Bougher describing NASA’s MAVEN (Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN) mission.

Bougher is a co-investigator on the mission, in which the MAVEN spacecraft will take a 10-month journey to Mars to unravel several mysteries: What forces stripped away so much of the Red Planet's upper atmosphere, why Mars' climate is so different from Earth's and how those same forces might someday affect Earth's atmosphere.

In the video, Bougher describes the workings of the spacecraft and its scientific objectives. The 5,410-pound, robotic spacecraft is scheduled to launch on November 18 at 1:28 PM.

AOSS and SPRL (Space Physics Research Laboratory) will celebrate the launch that day with a party in the Space Research Building, room 2246 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Pizza, popcorn and pop will be served.
