2015 Leaders and Honors Awards

Five AOSS students earned 2015 Leaders and Honors Awards from the College of Engineering.

Graduate Student Xiangyun Zhang earned the Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize For Outstanding PhD Research. Each year, three student winners are selected for this award. This prize is a college-level competition across departments. It is intended to highlight the innovation and creativity demonstrated by doctoral students, and to reward their outstanding research achievements. Zhang’s advisor is Professor Mark Moldwin.

Graduate Student Chuanfei Dong earned the Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement, which is presented to an outstanding graduate student in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee include the student’s active participation in research, leadership and academic performance. Dong’s advisor is Professor Stephen Bougher.

Undergraduate Student Scott Loeffler earned a Distinguished Achievement Undergraduate Award, which is presented to an outstanding undergraduate in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee includes academic achievement, exemplary character, leadership in class and activities, and potential for success in future endeavors.

Undergraduate Students Houraa Daher and Matthew Irish each earned a Distinguished Leadership Award, which is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding leadership and service to the College, University, and community.
